ABOUT INTERCEPTCARE®

InterceptCare® was built to solve a problem the healthcare system has no incentive to fix.

The healthcare system is built to spend. InterceptCare® is built to intercept. Real nurses. Real intercepts. Built from the ground up in. A different approach to benefits — built by people who saw the problem first-hand.

FOUNDER’S STORY

We got tired of talking about healthcare costs after they happened.

I’ve spent more than 15 years as a benefits advisor and entrepreneur, watching employers fight the same healthcare battle year after year.

We’d review claims reports, talk about the largest claims, analyze utilization and explain why healthcare costs went up.

Eventually, I started asking a pretty simple question:

The claim already happened. What are we supposed to do about it now?

Healthcare costs aren’t really created on a claims report. They’re created one decision at a time by individual employees and their families.

It’s the mother who takes her child to the emergency room because she’s scared and doesn’t know where else to go.

It’s the employee who follows their doctor’s recommendation for a specialty medication without knowing it could cost their employer’s health plan $150,000 a year when another appropriate option could cost a fraction of that.

It’s the employee paying for multiple health plans because they’re
afraid of a gap in coverage and nobody has helped them understand how their employer coverage, their spouse’s coverage and Medicare actually work together.

These aren’t spreadsheet problems. They’re individual people making individual healthcare decisions.

And by the time those decisions show up on a claims report, the money has already been spent.

I knew we needed to find a way to help employees before that happened.

Then it happened in my own family.

I had already started introducing nurse navigation and other solutions to employers, but I wasn’t seeing the results I thought we should. I kept wondering why. Then my wife needed an ultrasound.

Years earlier, a doctor had told her she had a heart murmur that she should eventually have checked. After we had our three boys, she decided it was time.

She was going to have the ultrasound through her hospital system. I knew enough about healthcare pricing to know that the hospital could charge around $2,500 for an ultrasound that could be performed independently for less than $250.

Nearly ten times less.

She chose the lower-cost option. Thankfully, everything came back normal. But afterward, I asked her a question that I now ask employers when I tell this story:

As the person paying for the healthcare, would I want her to choose the $250 option again?

Absolutely.

Would she do it again?

No.

She had to do all the work herself. Getting orders transferred was difficult. Records got lost. Moving outside the hospital system was frustrating. It was stressful and time-consuming.

And if she had already met her deductible, she told me she wouldn’t go through all of that again. She’d just use the more expensive option.

That’s when it clicked.

The employer wants the $250 option. But we’re asking the employee to do more work and deal with more frustration to save someone else’s money.

Finding a better option wasn’t enough.

We had to make the better option easier.

Employees didn’t need another app, website or phone number telling them where they could go.

They needed an advocate who could help them actually get there.

Someone to help coordinate the process, answer questions, navigate the roadblocks and do the work alongside them.
And if employees were willing to make healthcare decisions that saved their health plan money, I believed they should have an opportunity to share in those savings.

That became the foundation for InterceptCare®.

Over roughly three years of trial, error and refinement, we brought the pieces together: proactive identification, hands-on nurse advocacy, meaningful employee incentives, lower-cost and high-quality healthcare options, direct provider relationships and coordination with the employer’s health plan.
Because telling an employee there’s a better option isn’t navigation.

Helping them actually get there is.

And showing an employer what they already spent isn’t proactive cost management.

Helping influence the decision before the money is spent is.

That’s why we built InterceptCare®.

Intercept costs before they happen.

Then We Realized the Problem Was Even Bigger

As InterceptCare® grew, we kept seeing another version of the same problem. Employees facing significant healthcare needs may have access to other coverage, financial assistance or local, state and federal programs they don’t even know exist.

My mom was a special education teacher, and my dad built his business helping people with Medicare. Through both of them, I learned a lot about the programs available to individuals — and how incredibly confusing they can be.

Employer coverage. Spousal coverage. Medicare. Financial assistance. Other public and private programs. They can all interact, yet we expect an employee dealing with a serious health condition to figure everything out themselves.
That’s why we developed ACT.

ACT gives employees an independent advocate to help them understand the coverage and assistance options that may be available to them and how those options can work together.

Sometimes helping an employee understand an option they didn’t know they had can protect both their family and their employer’s health plan.

What We Believe

Employees and employers need advisors — not more salespeople.

Employees shouldn’t have to become healthcare experts to make good healthcare decisions.

They need someone on their side.

And employers need more than someone showing them where their healthcare dollars went last year. They need someone helping their employees make better healthcare decisions before those dollars are spent.

We believe a healthcare advisor should look out for both the employee’s pocketbook and their healthcare journey — while protecting the employer’s healthcare dollars at the same time.

That’s what InterceptCare® was built to do.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT

Most platforms tell you what happened.
We prevent it.

Real-Time, Not After-the-Fact

Most cost-containment tools generate reports after claims are filed. InterceptCare® operates at the prior authorization stage — before the appointment is booked, before the money moves.

In-House Nurses, Not Outsourced

InterceptCare® employs its own nurse advocates. They're not a third-party call center. They know your plan, your employees, and your specific benefit structure.

Works With Your Existing Plan

No carrier changes. No disruption to employees. InterceptCare® integrates into your existing self-funded, level-funded, or fully-insured structure as an advocacy layer — from day one.

Documented Results, Not Projections

Every intercept is logged with a before/after cost comparison. You get a full intercept report before renewal — real documented savings, not estimated ROI or modeled projections.
